Hydrogen Peroxide
Question

6.8 gm of H2O2 is present in 500 ml of an aqueous solution. When 10ml of this solution is decomposed, what is the S.T.P. volume of oxygen obtained

Moderate
Solution

\large \begin{array}{l} M\; = \;\frac{{Wt}}{{MWt}}\; \times \;\frac{{1000}}{{V(in\;ml)}}\\ \;\;\;\;\;\; = \;\frac{{6.8}}{{34}}\; \times \;\frac{{1000}}{{500}} \end{array}
M = 0.4M
volume strength = M x 11.2
                       = 0.4 x 11.2
                       = 4.48
4.48 volume strength of H2O2 means
1ml of H2O2 solution gives → 4.48ml of,O2
10ml of H2O2 solution gives → ??ml  of O2
\large \frac{10\times 4.48}{1}=44.8ml

Therefore 10ml, 4.48(W/V%) volume strength of H2O2 solution gives 44.8ml of O2 at STP.
