PCl₃ + 3H₂O → H₃PO₃ + 3HCl
Hydration : The addition of watermolecules to the salt without cleavage is said to be hydration.
CuSO₄ + 5H₂O → CuSO₄.5H₂O
Therefore, PCl₃ undergoes hydrolysis, Whereas CuSO₄ involves in hydration process.
