→ Select longest continuous carbon chain as parent chain.→ If more than one equal length carbon chains are possible, then we need to choose the carbon chain with maximum number of substituens as parent chain.→ Alcohols in IUPAC nomenclature called as alkanols[alk +ane + ol].→ Note In case of cyclo alkyl substituent we need to consider first alphabetof  cyclo but not from alkyl group name.
