The permanent hardness of water is due to the presence of soluble salts CaCl2 & MgCl2 , CaSO4 & MgSO4
i.e., Chlorides, Sulphates of Ca & Mg
→ Bicarbonates of Ca & Mg causes temporary hardness for water
→ CaCO3 & MgCO3 are soluble salts, which donot causes hardness to water.
