Hardness of water
Question

The reaction involved during the removal of temporary hardness of water is

Easy
Solution

The temporary hardness of water is due to the presence of  bicarbonates of Ca & Mg .
i.e,. Mg[HCo3]2
Ca[HCo2]3
Temporary hardness of water is removed by boiling, during this process the soluble bicarbonates converting into insoluble carbonates.

\large Ca{\left( {HC{o_3}} \right)_2}\;\xrightarrow{\Delta }\;CaC{o_3} \downarrow \; + {H_2}O\; + \;C{O_2}

The insoluble precipiate is removesd by filterration.
Options 3,4 are equations related to removal of permanent hardness of water.
