The temporary hardness of water is due to the presence of  bicarbonates of Ca & Mg .i.e,. Mg[HCo3]2Ca[HCo2]3Temporary hardness of water is removed by boiling, during this process the soluble bicarbonates converting into insoluble carbonates. The insoluble precipiate is removesd by filterration.Options 3,4 are equations related to removal of permanent hardness of water.
