Detailed Solution
(1) Unsatisfactory, since HCl is oxidized to Cl2. 2Cl⊖⟶Cl2+2e−Also, nascent oxygen produced from (KMnO4 + HCI) is partly used up to oxidises HCI to Cl2. (2)Unsatisfactory since HNO3 itself is a noxidizing agent which reacts with reducing agents. Also SO42− can not be okidized further due to maximum O.S. of S is +6 in SO42−. Moreover, H2SO4 does not give any nascent oxygen of its own to oxidise the reducing agent.
