Solution

(1) Al is passive in conc. HNO₃. A thin film of oxide is formed on the surface which prevents further action of HNO₃. Hence HNO₃ can be stored in Al vessels.
(2) $E_{red}^{\circ} of Al > E_{red}^{\circ}$ of Fe. Hence Al is more reactive than Fe.
(3) Although Al is more reactive than Fe, it should corrode faster than Fe. But due to the formation of self-protective layer of A1₂O₃ and it has higher reducing power, it corrodes less easily than Fe.
(4) Due to small size, more $Z_{eff}$ and vacant orbitals to accept electrons, 13 group elements have more tendency to from complexes than s- group elements.
