Detailed Solution
(1) Al is passive in conc. HNO3. A thin film of oxide is formed on the surface which prevents further action of HNO3. Hence HNO3 can be stored in Al vessels.(2) Ered∘ of Al>Ered∘ of Fe. Hence Al is more reactive than Fe. (3) Although Al is more reactive than Fe, it should corrode faster than Fe. But due to the formation of self-protective layer of A12O3 and it has higher reducing power, it corrodes less easily than Fe.(4) Due to small size, more Zeff and vacant orbitals to accept electrons, 13 group elements have more tendency to from complexes than s- group elements.
