Detailed Solution
Na2CO3 → 2Na+ + CO3-2CO3-2 + 2H2O → H2CO3 + 2OH-2Na+ + 2OH- → 2NaOH→ Aqueous solution of Na2CO3 is basic in nature, since it undergoes anionic gydrolysis→ The cations of strong base and the anions of strong acid in the salt can't undergoes hydrolysis In Na2CO3, the Na+ ion comes from strong base and hence it can't undergo hydrolysis. Where as CO3-2 ion comes from weak acid and hence it undergoes hydrolysis and produces H2CO3, OH- .Due to presence of OH- ion the solution possess alkali nature.
