Solubility product(KSP)
Question

Statement I : Sparingly soluble salts AB and XY2 with the same solubility product, will have different solubility.

Statement II : solubility of sparingly soluble salt depend upon solubility product.

Easy
Solution

AB(s)⇌AB(aqS1)→A+S1(aq)+B-S1(aq)

(Ksp)AB = S1 x S1 = S12

XY2(s)XY2(aq)XS2+2(aq)+2Y2S2-(aq)

KspXY2=S2×2S22=4S23

Even if Ksp for both the salts are same, they will have different values of solubilities.

Solubility product depends on solubility and stoichiometry.( also on temperature)
