General formula of $α -$ amino acids is $H_{2} N - CH (R) - COOH;$
If the -R part contains
a) no $- COOH$ group or no $- {NH}_{2}$ group(or no other basic groups like secondary.amine group or tertiary amine group)…..Neutral amino acid;
b) A $- COOH$ group but no $- {NH}_{2}$ group(or no other basic groups like secondary.amine group or tertiary amine group)…..Acidic amino acid;
c) No $- COOH$ group but a $- {NH}_{2}$ group(or other basic groups like secondary.amine group or tertiary amine group)….Basic amino acid;
In the case of valine -R is isopropyl group, $- CH {({CH}_{3})}_{2}$ group;
It is a neutral amino acid;
