Cu gets discharged at cathode ${Cu}^{2 +} (aq) + 2 e^{-} \to Cu (s)$ Copper metal is deposited at cathode and at anode, copper is converted into ${Cu}^{2 +}$ ion
$Cu (s) \to {Cu}^{2 +} (aq) + 2 e^{-}$
i.e. Copper is dissolved from anode. It is the industrial process by which impure copper is converted into copper of high purity.
