Detailed Solution

Pure NaCl is not hygroscopic but common table salt is hygroscopicReason: Common table salt contains calcium chloride(CaCl2) and magnesium chloride (MgCl2) as impurities which are highly deliquescent [hygroscopic] in nature. Thus common table salt is hygroscopicNote : The ability of a compound to absorb the moisture from the atmosphere is called salt hygroscopic (or) Deliquescent salt   As the size of cation increases L.E (lattice energy) decreases & H.E (hydration energy) decreases. In case of hydroxides, fluorides of IA & IIA group element, the solubility depends upon lattice energy but not depends on hydration energy. Since lattice energy decreases and hence solubility increases.   Statement - I & Statement - II are incorrect
