When a monosaccharide reacts to give the pyranose form from its open- chain form, how many distinct pyranose forms are possible?

In the process of pyranose ring formation sp2−carbon gets converted into sp3−carbon.so one newly formed sp3−chiral carbon can have maximum  two forms which is known α-as  β-or forms.
