Aliphatic and aromatic primary and secondary amines react with acid chlorides, anhydrides and esters by nucleophilic substitution reaction, which is known as acylation. In this type of reaction, there is the replacement of hydrogen atom of NH2 or NH group by acyl group. The product obtained in acylation reaction of amine is known as amide.
