Solution

$Wavelength of yellow light = 580 nm = 580 \times 10^{- 9} m ∴ Wave number, (\bar{v}) = \frac{1}{λ} = \frac{1}{580 \times 10^{- 9} m} = 1.7241 \times 10^{6} m^{- 1}$
