Solution

Hence, the xy- plane divides the line segment joining the points $A (3, 4, 1)$ and $B (5, 1, 6)$ in the ratio $- 1 : 6$
The coordinates of the point which divides the line segment $A B$ in the ratio $1 : 6$ externally is $(\frac{5 - 18}{- 5}, \frac{1 - 24}{- 5}, 0) = (\frac{13}{5}, \frac{23}{5}, 0)$
