Question

If a, b,c are positive real numbers, then the roots of the equation ax2+bx+c=0

Moderate
Solution

Roots of ax2+bc+c=0 are given by

x=b2a±b24ac2a

We have,

a,b>0b/2a<0

If b24ac<0 then roots are imaginary of which real part is negative.

If b24ac>0 then roots are real and negative since b24ac<b.

Hence, in either case, both the roots have negative real part.
