Solution

Given $4 \log_{a} a + 5 \log_{a} b = 0$
$\begin{array}{l} \Rightarrow \log_{a} b = - 4 / 5 \\ Now \log_{a} (a^{5} b^{4}) = 5 + 4 \log_{a} b = 5 + 4 (- \frac{4}{5}) \\ = 5 - \frac{16}{5} = \frac{9}{5} \end{array}$
