The coordinates of the centroid are
$(\frac{3 + c^{2}}{3}, \frac{a + b - 3}{3})$ It lies on x-axis. So, its y- coordinates is zero
$\frac{a + b - 3}{3} = 0 \Rightarrow a + b = 3$
