Question

If each of the vertices of a triangle has integer: coordinates, then the triangle will not be

Moderate
Solution

Let Ax1,y1, Bx2,y2 and Cx3,y3 be the

vertices of a ABC such that xis and yis are integers. Then

Δ= Area of ABC= a rational number

But, if we assume that the triangle is equilateral, then

Δ=34( side )2=34× an integer = a rational number

So, the triangle cannot be equilateral
