Question

 If a<0 and a-b+c=a-3b+9c=0, then the quadratic expression y=ax2+bx+c

 will attains its maximum value of x=k , the k is:

Moderate
Solution

 Given that f(x)=ax2+bx+c

 Also a-b+c=0f(-1)=0

 And a-3b+9c=0f-13=0

Roots of the equation are 1 and -13

k=(1)+132

k=23

 Maximum value of y=cx2+bx+c will appear at x=-23=k
