$Given that M M^{T} = I; M^{2} = I$
$And M^{- 1} + adj (M) = 0 \Rightarrow M^{- 1} = - adj M$
$\begin{array}{l} |M^{- 1}| = |- a d j M| \\ \Rightarrow \frac{1}{|M|} = {(- 1)}^{3} |a d j M| \\ \frac{1}{|M|} = - {|M|}^{2} \\ \Rightarrow |M| = - 1 \end{array}$
$\begin{array}{l} \det (P P^{T} P^{- 1}) = |P| |P^{T}| |P^{- 1}| \\ = |P| |P| \frac{1}{|P|} = |P| \end{array}$
$Given P + 2 M = 0$
$\Rightarrow P = - 2 M$

$|P| = |- 2 M| = {(- 2)}^{3} |M| = (- 8) (- 1) = 8$ $(∵ |k A| = k^{n} |A|)$
$∴ \det (P P^{T} P^{- 1}) = 8$
