Equation of line in Straight lines

Question

The perpendicular distance from the origin to a line L is 7 and the line L makes an angle of $150^{0}$ with the positive direction of x-axis and makes negative intercept on y-axis. Then the equation of the line is

Solution

$x \cos 150^{0} + y \sin 150^{0} = 7$
                 $x (\frac{- \sqrt{3}}{2}) + y (\frac{1}{2}) = 7 \Rightarrow$ $\sqrt{3} x - y = - 14$
