The sum of angles of elevation of the top of a tower from two points distant ‘a’ and ‘b’ from the base and in the same straight line with it is $90^{0}$ . Then the height of the tower is

Solution

$W e h a v e \tan θ = \frac{x}{a} \Rightarrow x = a \tan θ$
$A l s o \tan (90^{0} - θ) = \frac{x}{b} \Rightarrow x = b \cot θ$
$∴ x^{2} = a b \Rightarrow x = \sqrt{a b}$
