Hence, variance $= \frac{1}{n} \sum {(x_{i} - \bar{x})}^{2}$
$\begin{array}{l} = \frac{1}{5} \{(2 - 6)^{2} + (4 - 6)^{2} + (6 - 6) + (8 - 6)^{2} + (10 - 6)^{2}\} \\ = \frac{1}{5} \{(16 + 4 + 0 + 4 + 16} = \frac{1}{5} {40} = 8 \end{array}$
