Question

A train starting from rest moves with constant acceleration of 2 m/s2 for 5 minutes. Then it suddenly increases its acceleration from 2 m/s2 to 4 m/s2 and moves for another 10 minutes. Then average acceleration of the train is

Solution

velocity after 5 mins i.e. 300 s
v= 2x300= 600m/s
velocity after 15 mins= 600 + 600x4= 3000m/s
Thus average acceleration= $\frac{3000 - 0}{900} = 3.33 m / s^{2}$
