The actual value of resistance ‘R’ shown in the figure is 50Ω . This is measured in an experiment as shown using the standard formula R = VI where V and I are the readings of Voltmeter and Ammeter respectively . If the measured value of R is 5% less, then the internal resistance of the voltmeter is,

The actual value is R=50Ω but measured value is 0.95R  (5% less than original i.e., R-5%R=R-5R100=0.95R)  R and RV RV= resistance of voltmeter are in parallel. Req = RRVR+RV 0.95R = RRVR+RV Rv= 19 R Rv= 19 ×50 = 950 Ω
