Solution

Due to increase in R, The current through ring 1 will decrease. As a result magnetic flux linked with 2 due to the current in 1 will decrease and current will be induced in 2. by lenz's law direction of current in 2 will be such that ring 2 will be attracted by 1 so as to keep the flux linked with 2 unchanged.
