Question

A, B and C are voltmeters of resistance R , 1.5 R and 3R respectively. When some potential difference applied between X and Y . The voltmeter readings are $V_{A}, V_{B}$ and $V_{C}$ respectively

Solution

$B a n d C a r e i n p a r a l l e l R_{p} = \frac{1.5 R (3 R)}{1.5 R + (3 R)} = \frac{4.5 R^{2}}{4.5 R} = R$
If equal resistors are in series then potential drop across them is also equal.
$V_{1} = V_{2} = I R ∴ V_{A} = V_{B} = V_{C}$
