A block B of mass 1 kg is placed on a light plank shown in figure. A force F of 10 N is applied on the plank horizontally. Find the acceleration (in m/s²) of
block B.

Solution

Here, F=2T (from FBD of pulley)
given F=10 N
$\begin{array}{l} ∴ 2 T = 10 \\ \Rightarrow T = 5 N \\ But, T = m a \\ ∴ a = \frac{T}{m} = \frac{5}{1} = 5 m / s^{2} \end{array}$
