Question

A block of mass 10 Kg pushed by a force F on a horizontal rough plane moves with an acceleration 5 m/s². When the force is doubled, the acceleration becomes 18 m/s², the coefficient of friction is (g = 10 m/s²)

Solution

$F - μmg = ma$
For the first case $F - μmg = 5 m \to (1)$
For the second case $2 F - μmg = 18 m \to (2)$
Solving the two equation : $μ = 0.8 .$
