Solution

$Force on block = v \frac{d m}{d t}$
$\begin{matrix} Acceleration of block = \frac{F}{M} = \frac{v}{M} \frac{d m}{d t} \\ = \frac{5}{2} \times 1 = \frac{5}{2} m / s^{2} \end{matrix}$
