A body covered a distance of 10m along a semicircular path. The ratio of distance to displacement is:

Solution

For a semi-circular path of any radius R
$Dis tance = π R (length of semicircular path)$
Displacement =2 R(Diameter, that is the separation between initial and final positions)
$∴ \frac{Dis tan ce}{Displacement} = \frac{π R}{2 R} = \frac{π}{2} = \frac{22}{7 \times 2} = \frac{11}{7}$
