Since displacement is a vector quantity the give data can be written as
$\begin{array}{l} \bar{S} = 4 \hat{i} + 3 \hat{j} \\ ∴ Magnitude \begin{aligned} | S | & = \sqrt{4^{2} + 3^{2}} \\ = \sqrt{16 + 9} = \sqrt{25} = 5 km \end{aligned} \end{array}$
