Question

A body of mass 2 kg is floating in water with half of its volume submerged. What would be the force required to wholly submerge it into water ?

Moderate
Solution

Upthrust =V2×1000×g newton  In equilibrium position, M g =upthrust  2g=V2×1000×g  or  V=41000m3 So, the force required to wholly submerge the body into  water =V2×d×g =41000×2×1000×98 =19 .6 newton
