Solution

$m_{1} v_{1} - m_{2} v_{2} = (m_{1} + m_{2}) v$
$\Rightarrow 2 \times 3 - 1 \times 4 = (2 + 1) v \Rightarrow v = \frac{2}{3} m / s$
