A body moving with uniform acceleration of $6 m / s^{2}$ travels a distance of 27m in the last second of its journey. If it starts from rest, then the total time of its journey is

Solution

Let ‘n’ be the last second of the journey
$∴$ Given that $s_{n} = 27 m$
$\begin{array}{l} a = 6 m / s^{2} \\ u = 0 \\ ∴ From equation s_{n} = u + a (n - \frac{1}{2}) \\ \Rightarrow 27 = 0 + 6 (n - \frac{1}{2}) \\ \Rightarrow n - \frac{1}{2} = \frac{27}{6} = 4.5 \\ ∴ n = 5 \end{array}$
$∴$ The total time taken $t = 5 s$
