Given that maximum height $H = 9.8 m$
$\begin{array}{l} \Rightarrow \frac{u^{2}}{2 g} = 9.8 \\ \Rightarrow u^{2} = 2 \times 9.8 \times 9.8 \end{array}$
$\Rightarrow u = \sqrt{2 \times (9.8)^{2}} = 9.8 \sqrt{2 m / s}$
$Time of flight T = \frac{2 u}{g}$
$\begin{array}{l} = \frac{2}{9.8} \times 9.8 \sqrt{2} \\ = 2 \sqrt{2} s \end{array}$
