A body starts from rest with a uniform acceleration of 2 m/ s² for 10 sec. It moves with constant speed for 30 sec, then decelerates by 4 m / s² to zero. What is the distance covered by the body ?

Solution

V_max = 20 m/ s
Distance travelled = $\frac{1}{2} \times 2 \times 100 + 20 \times 30 + \frac{20^{2}}{2 \times 4}$
= 100 + 600 + 50 = 750 m.
