Solution

Let a be the deceleration of the bullet in both cases .
Then $100^{2} = 2 a \times 1 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1)$
In the second case $v^{2} = 100^{2} - 2 a \times 0.5 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (2)$
Solving , v = $50 \sqrt{2} m / s$
