Electrons and holes in semiconductors
Question

Calculate the conductivity of silicon crystal at 300 K. It is given that μe=1350cm2/Vs , μn=480cm2/Vs and at 300 K, the electron hole pair concentration is 1.072×1010percm3

Easy
Solution

Conductivity : σ=eneμe+nnμn             [For intrinsic semiconductor : ne=nn  ]

 =1.6 ×10-19×1.072×1010 1350 + 480

 =3.14 ×10-6 siemens/cm =3.14×104siemens/m
