Solution

We know
$\frac{V_{2} + V_{3}}{2} = V_{P} ∴ \frac{1 + V_{3}}{2} = - 1 \Rightarrow V_{3} = - 3 m / s$
(- sign denotes that the block is moving in downward direction with velocity 3m/s)
