Let n₁, and n, be the number of fringes observed between A and B for wavelengths 4358 $Å (λ_{1})$ and 5893 $Å (λ_{2})$ respectively. If t be the thickness of the film, then for normal incidence
$2 μt = n_{1} λ_{1} = n_{2} λ_{2} or n_{2} = n_{1} (λ_{1} / λ_{2}) n_{2} = \frac{10 \times 4358 \times 10^{- 10}}{5893 \times 10^{- 10}} = 7 .4 \approx 7$
