Detailed Solution
The light wave front emerging from a narrow slit is derived by passing it through two slits closely spaced side by side. Slits S1 and S2 are on the same wave front and emit light waves in the same phase and with same frequency. Thus coherent sources S1 and S2 are obtained by division of wave front. The initial amplitude of a light wave is divided into two parts namely reflected and transmitted components which have same frequency. Here S1 and S2 act as coherent sources. This method is called division of amplitude.
