As the earth rotates about its axis, a body on the surface of the earth also rotates with it. Since the body is in a rotating (non-inertial) frame. It experiences an outward centrifugal force against the inward force of gravity. As a result, the acceleration due to gravity decreases due to rotation. ∵gϕ=g-Rω2cos2ϕStatement (4) is incorrect. The forces are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction. Gravitational force is action and reaction pair. Hence, choices (1), (3) and (4) are wrong.
