In the circuit of fig. capacitors A and B have identical geometry, but a material of dielectric constant 3 is present between the plates of B. The potential difference across A and B are, respectively

Solution

The capacitance of capacitor B will be 3 times the capacitance of capacitor A. Hence the potential of B will be one-third as compared to A.
Therefore $V_{A} + \frac{V_{A}}{3} = 10 \Rightarrow V_{A} = 7.5 v o l t a n d V_{B} = 2.5 v o l t$
