In the circuit shown in figure. The ring is made of a wire of uniform cross-sectional area. If magnetic induction at the centre O produced by the segment ACB is 25µT, what will be the magnetic induction at O produced by the segment ADB ?

Solution

Resultant magnetic induction at O is zero.

Since the lengths of ACB and ADB are in the ratio of 5:1. The currents will divide in the ratio 1:5. As a result the magnetic induction produced by the two arcs will be equal and opposite in direction cancelling each other.

Thus magnetic induction at center is equal to zero

magnetic induction produced by ADB 

= magnetic induction produced by ACB

= 25 µT (outward)
