Solution

Let $d^{1}$ be the diameter of the refracted beam. Then,
$d = P Q \cos 60^{0} d^{1} = P Q \cos r \frac{d}{d^{1}} = 2 \cos r \sin r = \frac{\sin i}{μ} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{3}} \Rightarrow \cos r = \sqrt{\frac{2}{3}} d^{1} = 2 \times 2 \times \sqrt{\frac{2}{3}} = 3.26 c m$
