Solution

The image formed by the objective should be at the focus of the eye piece. Here
$V_{0} = (21 .5 - 2 .1) cm = 19 .4 cm ∴ \frac{1}{+ 19 .4} - \frac{1}{u} = \frac{1}{+ 1 .6} \Rightarrow u = - 1 .7 cm$
