Consider the motion of the tip of the minute hand of a clock. In one hour
a) the displacement is zero
b) the distance covered is zero
c) the average speed is zero
d) the average velocity is zero
In one hour, the minute hand rotates through an angle of 3600, i.e. the tip of the minutes hand moves along the circumference of a circle and returns to the same point where it started. so displacement of the tip of the minute hand is zero. Since average velocity = Displacement/Time interval, average velocity is also zero.
